Hello Everyone,

You may see me in-game as Thrayne Killrayne. I have recently come back to FFXIV and have really found myself extremely behind the curve. I am putting this post out to ask for some help catching up a bit. I could also use some tips on Marauder tanking because tanking in FFXIV is a little different than what I am used to.

All of my quests right now all seem to be different dungeons so that is probably what I should concentrate on first. My iLvL is only 70 so I definitely need to get my gear up.

I could also use some tips of things I could do in the game because I just feel a little lost.

Thanks ahead of time to anyone who can give me a hand.

Well gear is fairly easy to catch up on, and getting some gear shouldn't be too difficult. Depending on your selection of dungeons, the fastest way is probably to unlock and spam the first two Crystal Tower dungeons since people are clearing them again for their weeklies. Another equally viable option is spam the first and second turn of Coil at least for marginal upgrades, as people are also spamming them for lights for relic weapons. While doing this fill in whatever gear you can with Tower/Coil drops and utilize Soldiery and Poetics to fill in the empty spots till you can replace the drops you've already gotten with better gear.

As far as tanking goes not alot has changed, you'll probably be married to Overpower for multiple targets and your basic Butchers Block combo for single targets, utilizing Storms Eye and Storms Path when opportunity presents itself or when off-tanking. When/if you get WAR unlocked (which you should eventually) nothing really changes overall except you get a few more options, a tank stance that lets you build stacks to utilize for different things like a 20% dmg reduction for 6 seconds, an ability to bypass the stances damage down effect for a limited time, or our 1.0 favorite Steel Cyclone.

That's about all there is too it really, anything else pertaining to tanking is largely due to the scenario and fight your in, as mechanics will require you to fulfill different duties based on the situation. (IE: The real learning is going to come from experiencing it for yourself). But if you ever have questions about fights feel free to ask us and look up battles on youtube to get ideas of how to tackle things.
